Hey - We're Glad You're Here!
Here's the deal - on paper Ruth & Roxy should not work as friends. Ruth is from downtown Toronto. Roxy is from a small town in Saskatchewan. Roxy grew up in an evangelical community. Ruth's been to church, she thinks. Maybe. Also - she may or may not believe in God, depending on the moment. Roxy raised three fabulous daughters and is now a doting grandmother. Ruth's socks don't match.
You get the drift... yet, these two are crazy connected. Crazy being the operative word.
As different as they are, they have so much in common. They both work with words for their careers - Roxy is a USA Today best-selling author and content editor. Ruth was a journalist and is now a communications professional and content creator. Their values are aligned (that matters. alot.).
And when they found themselves as next-door neighbours in a small gated community near Cultus Lake, BC, a friendship blossomed.
And then came the Happy Hours - where they discuss what's on their minds. The topics can be serious or ridiculous. Fun or quirky. Political or random. It's always interesting and often hilarious (sometimes even on purpose!).
These two know how lucky they are to have found one another. And one day, it hit them - what if there are others out there who feel disconnected or lonely or just want a couple of gal pals to hang out with at Happy Hour? That was how Happy Hour with Ruth & Roxy was born.
And in figuring out what the Happy Hour would be - they thought about what they want in life - and boiled down, it's: More Happy Hours and Less Bullshit.
If we're honest - it's kind of what we all want out of life - especially these days.
The goal of Happy Hour with Ruth & Roxy is to share a podcast episode every two weeks, with blog posts covering the no-podcast weeks. It might not always happen. But - we'll always do our best.
A note from Ruth & Roxy: If you've read this far - holy doodle - THANK YOU for hanging around this long! We're in the early stages of figuring all this out - the website, the podcast, how the heck to edit the video so there's an intro and ending! And so much more. We're going to do blog posts too.
Please be patient with us - we'll get better. Production values aside, we're all here to create a little community of pals. So welcome. We're glad you're here.
